Directement à la suite de Slow Death Process, Antée présente ici un aperçu du second album de Shkval, Travellers To The Grave. Une première face est d’ores et déjà achevée et attends son mastering. La suivante ne devrait pas tarder a se finaliser malgré le fait qu’en ce lundi 5 janvier 2010, deux morceaux (dont Last Stand) – impossibles a mixer, trop différents du reste de l’album – rejoignent le repertoire d’un groupe en formation, sans nom pour l’instant. En attendant, voici le morceau d’ouverture de Travellers To The Grave, le sombre Four Districts.

Après cinq années d’investigations, de doutes et de montage sonore,  Shkval est fin prêt à livrer son premier projet – le bien nommé Slow Death Process – aux bons soins d’Antée Records. L’album comprend, en 2 pièces de 20 minutes chacune, 12 tracks de masses sonores élaborées de façon délibérément intuitive à partir d’instruments analogiques et d’échantillons musicaux. A écouter bien installé, un peu fort et un peu saoul.

Une construction  sonore autours et surtout à l’intérieur du Moulin de Spontin.
Comme les moulins sont faits de trémies, de chaines à godets, de meules dormantes et de meules tournantes, d’axes, et d’engrenages et que chacun de ces différents éléments possèdent sa propre « couleur », il  y a juste eu à les amplifier (parfois fort) pour obtenir des histoires.
Ces histoires sont comme toute les histoires, à la mesure de ce que l’on veut (ou peut) bien en entendre.

Première « signature » -  si on peux dire vu que ce sont des amis de longue date – enregistrés par nos soins dans notre home-studio (Funktion Orange), ces morceaux ont pour vocation un regard exterieur à leur propre musique, une prise de recul par rapport à la composition et à la difficulté d’évoluer en duo guitare-batterie, manque-t-il quelque chose, le manque fait-il partie de la musique, l’énergie dégagée n’est-elle pas suffisante en soi? ce genre de considération. Sans balance ni mastering, en direct-to-disk, sans fioriture ou overdub, les 4 premiers morceaux de Skotôma.

En attendant la sortie imminente du « Slow Death Process LP » – le tant attendu, s’il en est,  debut album de Shkval, on vous propose un inédit, une exclusivité on appelle ça : le track qui a sauté de l’album, le track impossible a mixer, et qui rentre pas dans le moule… sur base d’un fragment de basse de Kulko le bien-nommé.

Après une ré-écoute de l’ensemble de l’œuvre de Meanstreet, ainsi qu’une âpre négociation avec les avocats de feu le label Ten Times Louder Records, on a enfin obtenu la garde les droits de republier cet EP,  le troisième et dernier de ce groupe majeur de la non-scène bruxelloise du début du millénaire… ces versions ont été volées au Studio 6, elles ne sont ni mixées ni masterisées…. n’en reste pas moins une tuerie planifiée scrupuleusement, un chaos organisé par les doigts d’orfèvre de Kwistefe le vrai, ré-haussé par la rythmique martiale de stephan saive, le tout rendu un rien plus brouillon que nécessaire par votre serviteur…

This meeting point is a mess, it’s going places hard to suggest.
It started out on the day I took my first deep breath and a yell
